REVIEW: THE ROADS WE FOLLOW BY NICOLE DEESE

MY REVIEW:

Nicole Deese has such a way of storytelling that she shatters her reader’s hearts and then puts them back together again. I loved every minute of it too!  She has a way of pulling her readers right in and making them fall in love with all of her characters. I found myself cheering for Raegan and Micah throughout most of the story.  THE ROADS WE FOLLOW had me wanting to reach into the story and give them both a hug. The bantering between these two is hysterical and I was giggling out loud more than once.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Fresh Fiction. All opinions expressed are my own and were voluntarily given.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

As the youngest daughter of a country music legend, Raegan Farrow longs to establish an identity away from the spotlight and publish her small-town romances under a pen name. But after her dream is dashed when she won’t exploit her mother’s fame to further her own career, she hears a rumor from a reliable source regarding a tell-all being written about the Farrow family. Making matters worse, the unknown author has gone to great lengths to remain anonymous until publication.

Raegan chooses to keep the tell-all a secret from her scandal-leery sisters as they embark on a two-week, cross-country road trip at their mother’s request and makes it her mission to expose the identity of the author behind the unsanctioned biography. But all is complicated when she discovers their hired bus driver, Micah Davenport, has a hidden agenda of his own–one involving both of their mothers and an old box of journals. As they rely on each other to find the answers they seek, the surprising revelations they unearth will steer them toward their undeniable connection and may even lead them down the most unexpected of paths.

Thank you for stopping by and have a terrific Tuesday!☔📚☔

TUESDAY I THINK???

Good morning! 62 degrees here, going up to 80.  We have rain coming later on. I’m pretty sure it’s New Book Tuesday! It was a rough day here yesterday. There was a mass shooting and three US Marshalls were killed and one local officer as well. Four more were shot, but they are expected to be okay. It was only twenty minutes from where we live. Its awful. What is wrong with people today? Have a good day my friends!💜

IT’S MONDAY! WHAT ARE YOU READING?📚

Good Evening!

It’s the start of another week. It’s Monday! What are you Reading is hosted by Kathryn from Book Date , this is a weekly event to share what we’ve read in the past week and what we hope to read, plus whatever else comes to mind. I’m hoping to squeeze in some of my books that I own but remain unread!

LAST WEEKS READS:

Both suspenseful and deeply moving, Carolina Moonset is an engrossing novel about family, memories both golden and terrible, and secrets too dangerous to stay hidden forever, from New York Times bestselling and Emmy Award-winning author, Matt Goldman. Joey Green has returned to Beaufort, South Carolina, with its palmettos and shrimp boats, to look after his ailing father, who is succumbing to dementia, while his overstressed mother takes a break. Marshall Green’s short-term memory has all but evaporated, but, as if in compensation, his oldest memories are more vivid than ever. His mind keeps slipping backwards in time, retreating into long-ago yesterdays of growing up in Beaufort as a boy. At first this seems like a blessing of sorts, with the past providing a refuge from a shrinking future, but Joey grows increasingly anxious as his father’s hallucinatory arguments with figures from his youth begin to hint at deadly secrets, scandals, and suspicions long buried and forgotten. Resurfacing from decades past are mysteries that still have the power to shatter lives–and change everything Joey thought he knew. Especially when a new murder brings the police to his door…

A.J. Fikry meets The Bookish Life of Nina Hill in this charming, hilarious, and moving novel about the way books bring lonely souls together.

Two young lovers. Sixty long years. One bookish mystery worth solving.

Librarian Chloe Sampson has been struggling: to take care of her three younger siblings, to find herself, to make ends meet. She’s just about at the end of her rope when she stumbles across a rare edition of a book from the 1960s at the local flea market. Deciding it’s a sign of her luck turning, she takes it home with her—only to be shocked when her cranky hermit of a neighbor swoops in and offers to buy it for an exorbitant price. Intrigued, Chloe takes a closer look at the book only to find notes scribbled in the margins between two young lovers back when the book was new…one of whom is almost definitely Jasper Holmes, the curmudgeon next door.

When she begins following the clues left behind, she discovers this isn’t the only old book in town filled with romantic marginalia. This kickstarts a literary scavenger hunt that Chloe is determined to see through to the end. What happened to the two tragic lovers who corresponded in the margins of so many different library books? And what does it have to do with the old, sad man next door—who only now has begun to open his home and heart to Chloe and her siblings?

In a romantic tale that spans the decades, Chloe discovers that there’s much more to her grouchy old neighbor than meets the eye. And in allowing herself to accept the unexpected friendship he offers, she learns that some love stories begin in the unlikeliest of places.

REVIEW: THE LIBRARY OF BORROWED HEARTS BY LUCY GILMORE

MY REVIEW:

I loved every second of THE LIBRARY OF BORROWED HEARTS. There are so many wonderful and quirky characters in this story. If you are in a book slump that you are looking to get out of, you can’t go wrong with this fantastic story. You won’t be able to help yourself from cheering for Chloe and her family. That is what happened to me and I just wanted them all to find their happy place. There are multiple points of view as well as timelines, but the reader will have no problem keeping track of everything going on. I was sad when THE LIBRARY OF BORROWED HEARTS ended because I wasn’t ready to leave my newfound friends. The sense of community and small-town America is really appealing to me and left me missing the small towns that I have lived in. The writing is wonderful, and the emotional ride Lucy Gilmore took us on was thrilling. I heartily recommend this book!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Fresh Fiction. All opinions expressed are my own and were voluntarily given.
