Good morning!

I received five approvals this week! I will admit to going and browsing around Netgalley, but I really am trying not to click every book that catches my eye! I blame the covers! Why do they have to be so beautiful? Hahaha I will never get caught up but please, don’t let that stop you from sharing what you were approved for this week!😊💕

Okay, here we go……..

It’s been seventeen years since the tragic summer the McAvoy sisters fell apart. Lindy, the wild one, left home, carved out a new life in the city and never looked back. Delia, the sister who stayed, became a mother herself, raising her daughters and running the family shop in their small Pennsylvania hometown on the shores of Lake Erie.

But now, with their mother’s ailing health and a rebellious teenager to rein in, Delia has no choice but to welcome Lindy home. As the two sisters try to put their family back in order, they finally have the chance to reclaim what’s been lost over the years: for Delia, professional dreams and a happy marriage, and for Lindy, a sense of home and an old flame—and best of all, each other. But when one turbulent night leads to a shocking revelation, the women must face the past they’ve avoided for a decade. And there’s nothing like an old secret to bring the McAvoy women back together and stronger than ever.

With warm affection and wry wit, Molly Fader’s The McAvoy Sisters Book of Secrets is about the ties that bind family and the power of secrets to hold us back or set us free.

From the internationally bestselling author of Firefly Cove comes a powerful novel of healing old wounds, surprising second chances, and letting the heart lead the way . . .

What to do with a life where everything he’s worked for is shattered?

A top executive in the family business, Buddy Helms lives and works under the thumb of his powerful father. He’s proved himself time and again to the manipulative patriarch—even saving the company from financial ruin. Yet for six years Buddy’s waited to hear that he’s worthy of his father’s love and respect. Now, after another cold dismissal, Buddy’s slamming the door on everything he’s strived for. When his church counselor recommends a soothing tonic for his disillusionment, frustration, and rage, he grabs at it: the solitude of Moondust Lake, a retreat just outside Miramar Bay.

Believing in others comes easily—it’s believing in herself that’s a risk . . .

Kimberly Sturgiss is a professional psychotherapist, whose tragic past has granted her a rare ability to gently release her patients from their self-made prisons. She’s well acquainted with the Helms family and the dark burdens that come with them. But the most intriguing challenge of all is Buddy. He and Kimberly share more than she’s prepared to admit—the same emotional cage, the guarded heart, and the broken trusts that come with being alive. Maybe it’s finally time that Kimberly finds herself, too—by reaching out to the man who’s reaching out to her.

Poignant and heartfelt, Moondust Lake is an uplifting novel about searching for all the things in life that matter, embracing them, and never letting go.

Advance Praise for THE SUMMER COTTAGE

“Every now and then a new voice in fiction arrives to completely charm, entertain and remind us what matters. Viola Shipman is that voice and The Summer Cottage is that absolutely irresistible and necessary novel.” — New York TimesBestselling Author Dorothea Benton Frank

From the bestselling author of The Charm Bracelet and The Recipe Box comes the perfect summer escape about the restorative power of family tradition, small-town community and the feel of sand between your toes

Adie Lou Kruger’s ex never understood her affection for what her parents called their Creaky Cottage, the charming, ramshackle summer home—complete with its own set of rules for relaxing—that she’s inherited on Lake Michigan. But despite the fact she’s facing a broken marriage and empty nest, and middle age is looming in the distance, memories of happy childhoods on the beach give her reason for hope. She’s determined not to let her husband’s affair with a grad student reduce her to a cliché, or to waste one more minute in a career she doesn’t love, so it becomes clear what Adie Lou must do: rebuild her life and restore her cottage shingle by shingle, on her terms.

But converting the beloved, weather-beaten structure into a bed-and-breakfast isn’t quite the efficient home-reno experience she’s seen on TV. Pushback from Saugatuck’s contentious preservation society, costly surprises and demanding guests were not part of the plan. But as the cottage comes back to life, Adie Lou does, too, finding support in unexpected places and a new love story on the horizon. One cottage rule at a time, Adie Lou reclaims her own strength, history and joy by rediscovering the magic in every sunset and sandcastle.

How about you? Did you receive any approvals this week?

  1. Oh no, I hadn’t seen the new Shipman! I’ll have to get that! I do have Wartime Sisters! I love that author and cannot wait! And Nonna! I am trying so hard not to go over and request that right now. I read and reviewed the first Nonna book. YUM. Can you cook like that, Sus? I am not Italian, but in another life I was…a vegetarian Italian (I say that because I LOVE all the food!) ♥️

    1. Did you spend the day reading Jen?😊 That’s my plan for tomorrow! Did you know that Viola Shipman is really a man? That blew me away when I learned that! I thought only Nicholas Sparks could write like that!😂 I do cook like Nonna as I am 100% Sicilian so it’s in my blood! Have an awesome Saturday night my friend!😊🎃💕

      1. Yes! I think maybe I’m the one who told you he is a man when I reviewed his last book?? Maybe? I read some today, but I wish I had read even more. It was rainy this morning, so perfect for reading. My mom just finished Sparks’ newest and loved it! I can’t wait to read it. I have traveled to Sicily, Sus! I was greeted with the special blood orange drink (drawing a blank!) and the most amazing cannolis I’ve had in my life. I would go back in a heartbeat. ♥️

  3. Very nice Susan. I love the covers on these books which means they are tempting me. I did request the Wartime Sisters. Harlequin always declines me unless it is one from the newsletter they are offering so I have not read Viola Shipman. I love the signature things you use, but todays is wonderful. I had a tough time this week on Netgalley, I should not have visited, too many auto approvals. I will post later. I hope to spend all afternoon reading once I get home from church. Have a wonderful week Susan! 😊🙂

  5. 5 is actually a pretty decent number for a week. I may have only picked up one this week but I did already pick up The McAvoy Sisters Book of Secrets last week. 🙂
