GOODREADS THURSDAY

throwbackthursday

Throwback Thursday meme is hosted by Renee@It’s Book Talk and is a way to share some of your old favorites as well as sharing books that you’re FINALLY getting around to reading that were published over a year ago. You know, the ones waiting patiently on your TBR list while you continue to pile more titles on top of them 🙂! These older books are usually much easier than new releases to get a hold of at libraries and elsewhere. If you have your own Throwback Thursday recommendation feel free to jump on board, you’re welcome to use Renee’s pic as well. If you’d just link back to her @ It’s Book Talkshe’d so appreciate it.

This week I’m picking a book I read a few years ago and loved!

MY REVIEW

Gia is a humanitarian that goes around the world from disaster to disaster, helping people try to recover. When all along she should be at home dealing with her own disaster. Her life. Sixteen years ago a tragedy struck her family and she has been running ever since. She leaves her life behind, her Dad, her brother Bo and her sister, Lexi and never looks back. Now she is heading home after all that time, to take care of her father during his last days. Is she strong enough to do it? Can she ever find forgiveness? Has the town forgotten what happened?

One of the first people she meets is Jake. He is the bartender at the local bar, which he also happens to own. Jake makes Gia laugh and has a way of making her forget her problems if even for just a little while. There is an instant attraction with these two and Jake has secrets of his own, but Gia doesn’t learn about them until much later. Before she knows what is happening, her past is come apart at the seems and she can do nothing to stop it. While this is happening, she is falling in love with Jake, even though she has no plans of sticking around after her father passes. She just can’t help herself.

All the while, Gia is trying to get her brother and sister to come and see their Dad. They keep giving her the run around and coming up with different excuses. Gia has had it and will stop at nothing until those two get over to their childhood home and face their Dad as he lay dying. Neither one of them wants anything to do with him and forgiveness is not going to happen any time soon. What can Gia do or say to make them see that they are wrong? She should just give up and go back to the Congo? You are going to have to read THE LAST BREATH to find out because I am not ruining it for anyone here in my review.

What a suspenseful tale of love, heartache, forgiveness, hope, secrets, and pain. The chemistry between Gia and Jake will have you turning the pages late into the night! The twists and turns in THE LAST BREATH will make it a very fast read as you will be flipping the pages like crazy because you have to know how it ends!! Many of them, I never saw coming! I can’t wait to read more by Kimberly Belle!

  1. This sounds like a great one – I like the idea that she’s a humanitarian helping with everyone’s disasters while running from her own. This is the first I’ve heard of Throwback Thursday and might have to join in next time around – thank you!
