Happy Friday & welcome to First Line Friday hosted by Reading Is My SuperPower. I’m so excited to be doing these posts again. I haven’t participated in such a long time! The book I’m featuring is one I will be reading this weekend!

Meg Mackworth’s hand-lettering skill has made her famous as the Planner of Park Slope, designing beautiful custom journals for New York City’s elite. She has another skill too: reading signs that other people miss. Like the time she sat across from Reid Sutherland and his gorgeous fiancée, and knew their upcoming marriage was doomed to fail. Weaving a secret word into their wedding program was a little unprofessional, but she was sure no one else would spot it. She hadn’t counted on sharp-eyed, pattern-obsessed Reid . . .

A year later, Reid has tracked Meg down to find out—before he leaves New York for good—how she knew that his meticulously planned future was about to implode. But with a looming deadline, a fractured friendship, and a bad case of creative block, Meg doesn’t have time for Reid’s questions—unless he can help her find her missing inspiration. As they gradually open up to each other about their lives, work, and regrets, both try to ignore the fact that their unlikely connection is growing deeper. But the signs are there—irresistible, indisputable, urging Meg to heed the messages Reid is sending her, before it’s too late . . .

Kate Clayborn is the critically acclaimed author of six novels. Her work has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Oprah Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, Bookpage, and more. By day she works in education, and by night (and sometimes, by very early morning) she writes contemporary romances about smart, strong, modern heroines who face the world alongside true friends and complicated families. She resides in Virginia with her husband and their dog.

Thank you for stopping by and have a fantastic Friday!☕📚☕

    1. We are settled in Cindy, thank you. As for the books, out of twenty boxes, I have five more to go! I can’t wait to finish up. I unpacked ten boxes yesterday and my back wasn’t happy this morning so hopefully tomorrow I can get the last five done. Have a wonderful weekend and stay warm!🌞🤗☕📚💜

  1. I have enjoyed other Kate Clayborn books and I hope this is another good one. I will say that the beginning doesn’t grab me, but I am sure this will be a good one. Enjoy it, Susan and take it easy!!! 📚💞

  2. My first line comes from In Spotlight and Shadows from Rachel Scott Mc Daniel:
Chapter 1 Elise January, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
History didn’t haphazardly repeat itself in the chapters of Elise Malvern’s life.

  3. I’m currently reading Miss Newbury’s List by Megan Walker. It’s a super sweet story!
“My pulse pounded in my ears. Me? Learn to fight? My fists were as delicate as porcelain. This had to be a joke.”
I hope you have a great weekend! 😀❤️📚

  4. Today I’m reading Forged in Love by Mary Connealy. The first line is: “August 1870, Pine Valley, Wyoming, Near the Wind River Mountains ~ A bullet slammed into the side of the stagecoach carrying Mariah Stover, her pa, and her older brother.” I hope you have a wonderful week!
