ABOUT THE BOOK

MY REVIEW: CLAIRE AT EDISTO

CLAIRE AT EDISTO is such a wonderful story that I immediately went to my library on line and ordered all of Lin Stepp’s other books. I loved everything about this beautiful story and I’m excited to continue the series. CLAIRE AT EDISTO is book one in the Edisto Trilogy. Lin Stepp has a way of grabbing her readers and I loved every minute of it. Claire has just buried her husband who also happened to be the pastor, and she isn’t sure what she is going to do. They live in the church parsonage and she knows she is going to have to leave but she doesn’t know where to go. She doesn’t have a job or any way to provide for her family. She doesn’t really get a long with her family but she has learned how to tolerate them over the years. They are very mean to her with their snide comments but she tries to look past that and still love them.

Claire has decided to accept her brother in laws offer to stay at his beach house in Edisto. Claire has always enjoyed it there, right on the beach, and agrees to use the summer to give herself a chance to heal and figure out where her life is going and where she wants it to be. She also has to think of her young daughters as well. Parker is such a blessing to Claire and wants to genuinely help her figure it all out, but she doesn’t want to feel like she is taking advantage of him. Over time, she decides to move in with her parents, but she and the girls are miserable there. Once again, Parker comes to their rescue. She moves back to the beach house. CLAIRE AT EDISTO finds Claire spending over two years at the beach house!

CLAIRE AT EDISTO had me staying up way too late one night to finish! I had to know where Lin Stepp was taking us and what would happen to Claire. I really loved how the whole beach community came to Claire’s aid and only wanted her to feel loved and welcomed! The same goes for the girls ! Parker fights his feelings for Claire that he has been holding back for a long long time. Who falls in love with their dead brother’s wife? He struggles wth this over and over again. So much so that I wanted to reach into this amazing story and give him the biggest hug! There is so much heart in Lin’s writing that I was left with a huge smile on my face and my heart very happy. All of the characters are very interesting and believable, so much so that I felt as if I’ve known them for a long time.

MY REVIEW: THE INTERLUDE
THE INTERLUDE is part of the Smoky Mountain series by Lin Stepp. The twists and turns keep coming and I had to know how it was going to end! Every time I thought I knew where this story was going, a few pages later, Lin Stepp threw me for a loop and I knew I was wrong! I’m kicking myself for not reading this wonderful novel sooner. I’m on a mission now to read all of her books. They are just that good!

THE INTERLUDE is a quick read and unputdownable! There were quite a few times when reading it that I wanted to reach into the pages and give Mallory And Lucas, but especially Lucas a good shake and tell them to open their eyes! I found myself laughing one second and then tearing up the next. If you are looking for a beautiful story to pull you out of your book slump, you can’t go wrong with THE INTERLUDE. Lin Stepp is now one of my auto buy authors.

The twists and turns in THE INTERLUDE are going to keep you up late into the night trying to figure it out. One minute you believe you know where Mallory is going with her life and the next you are sitting there shaking your head, wondering what the heck just happened. I had my ideas, I had it all figured out, or so I thought, and BAM…….wrong again! Once you start reading, trust me, you aren’t going to be able to stop! When everything is finally revealed, well, you won’t believe it!

THE INTERLUDE begins with Mallory Wingate returning home to her grandparents resort in the Smoky Mountains. She is beyond devastated as she has just buried her mother and her fiancé cheated on her and broke her heart. She’s had a nervous breakdown and her employer tells her to go away and get better. So while she is on the plane she meets Lucas James and her life is turned totally upside down. I thoroughly enjoyed reading THE INTERLUDE. All of the characters are on their own spiritual journey, not just Mallory. It is heart warming and filled with so many different emotions. There is so much going on in this story, but Lin Stepp does a wonderful job of weaving all the pieces together. All of the characters will have you feeling sad and then giggling on the same page. More than once I wanted to be there with my new found friends! Once you finish devouring this story, you are going to want to tell everyone you know about this awesome book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from JustRead Publicity Tours. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

  1. I live half an hour away from the beach, so Claire’s story sounds fascinating 😊 On the other hand, if I had to choose something different for my vacation, mountains would be awesome. Great review, Susan!
