REVIEW: SAIL BY JAMES PATTERSON

MY REVIEW:

SAIL is another James Patterson book that blew my mind. Anne Dunne’s family has been falling apart since the death of her husband. Trying to save her family she puts together a wonderful sailing vacation. As soon as they pull away from the dock the craziness starts! The twists and turns keep coming and I had to know how it was going to end! Every time I thought I knew where this story was going, a few pages later, James Patterson threw me for a loop and I knew I was wrong! I’m kicking myself for not reading this wonderful ten year old novel sooner.

SAIL is a quick read and unputdownable! There were quite a few times when reading it that I wanted to reach into the pages and slap a few of these people with their wishy washy ways of thinking. I found myself laughing one second and then tearing up the next. If you are looking for a roller coaster ride of a story to pull you out of your book slump, you can’t go wrong with SAIL. I’m so excited to continue plowing through my back log of James’ books. James Patterson has always been one of my auto buy authors.

The twists and turns in SAIL are going to keep you up late into the night trying to figure it out. One minute you believe you know where Anne and her family is going to end up and the next you are sitting there shaking your head, wondering what the heck just happened. I had my ideas, I had it all figured out, or so I thought, and BAM…….wrong again! Once you start reading, trust me, you aren’t going to be able to stop! When everything is finally revealed, well, you won’t believe it!

SAIL begins with Anne’s brother in law waiting on her and her family. He is going to be the captain of the sailboat and as it turns out, Anne and Jack have some unusual history. I thoroughly enjoyed reading SAIL. It is also very suspenseful and filled with so many different emotions. If you’ve ever experienced a family trip from hell, I’m sure it had nothing on this disastrous trip! Once you finish devouring this story, you are going to want to tell everyone you know about this awesome book.

FROM GOODREADS:

Since the death of her husband, Anne Dunne and her three children have struggled in every way. In a last ditch effort to save the family, Anne plans an elaborate sailing vacation to bring everyone together once again. But only an hour out of port, everything is going wrong. The teenage daughter, Carrie, is planning to drown herself. The teenage son, Mark, is high on drugs and ten-year-old Ernie is nearly catatonic. This is the worst vacation ever.

Anne manages to pull things together bit by bit, but just as they begin feeling like a family again, something catastrophic happens. Survival may be the least of their concerns.
Written with the blistering pace and shocking twists that only James Patterson can master, Sail takes “Lost” and “Survivor” to a new level of terror.

  1. Great review Susan. When I get back home, I have a whole list of James Patterson books to read with all these reviews of them that you have written. Yes, they are quick reads which I like in between the others.
