FIRST LINE FRIDAY

1

Welcome to First Line Fridays, hosted by Hoarding Books!!! Today we are supposed to select a book you’re most anticipating for the new year.

Today, my first line comes from a book I am hoping to read soon!

The four women seated at a corner booth in the Mexican restaurant were getting increasingly noisier with each round of drinks. Cinco de Mayo had come and gone, but these ladies still had something to celebrate, as they were all dressed in body-con dresses or slinky tops over skinny jeans, in killer shoes and wearing boas.

NOW IT IS YOUR TURN! GRAB THE BOOK YOU ARE CURRENTLY READING, OPEN TO CHAPTER ONE, AND POST THE FIRST SENTENCE (OR SECOND SENTENCE) IN THE COMMENTS BELOW.

  1. Happy Friday! Over on my blog today I’m sharing the first line from My Heart Belongs in Niagara Falls, New York by Amanda Barratt. It is scheduled to release on Jan. 1st! I’ll share with you here a book I’m currently reading – Across the Blue by Carrie Turansky
“Isabella Grayson’s shoes sank into the plush red carpet of Broadlands’ south hall, and she released a soft sigh. What luxury!”

    Happy New Year!

  2. Another author that I haven’t yet read.
Happy Friday! My first line is from Would-be Mistletoe Wife by Christine Johnson.

“Louise Smythe spotted her quarry and motioned her students to follow her across the sand dune.”

This is a fun & interesting read about lighthouses and the Chicago Fire! Happy New Year!!!

  3. I didn’t follow the fun of this post on my blog, because I’m several posts behind of books that I got to review which I’m featuring. But! I’d say one of my most-anticipated reads is Roseanna White’s “A Song Unheard,” which I should be getting in soon! 🙂

Currently I’m re-reading “The Lost Heiress” by Roseanna White (Yes, I like this author). I got book three of the Ladies of the Manor series for Christmas, so am giving myself a refresher of books 1-2 before I get to the third. 😉

    First line:
Temptation sat before her, compelling as the sea.

  4. Well, the book i have open at the moment is poetry. It begins…
“the illusion is that you are simply
    reading this poem.
the reality is that this is
    more than a
    poem.”
[first lines of “splash” in the collection _Betting on the Muse_ by Charles Bukowski]

    Happy Holidays!

  5. From A Killer Harvest by NZ author, Paul Cleave.

The office used to be an old shipping container, its walls scratched and dinged and pitted with rust, now painted grey.

This is a book that I cannot bear to put down. One of my haul from under the Christmas tree!

  6. Happy Friday!!!

I’m sharing the first line from Nicole Deese’s novel, A Season to Love, on my blog. I’m just starting chapter 23, so I will share the first line from this chapter here:

“I dreamed of coffee: dark and rich and boldly brewed.”

A great dream to me!!! Hope you have a great weekend, and a happy New Year. 😊
