  1. Haha! Great first line!

I’m featuring the SECOND line from Crystal Walton’s ‘Just Maybe’ on my blog this week (Carrie has the first line on Reading is my Superpower). But here, I’m going to share the first line from my current read: a speculative novel called ‘Day Moon’ by Brett Armstrong. Here’s the first line:

“The drizzle tapped on the coffin with an increasing intensity.”

  2. I live just over 4-hours away from Detroit. I’ve visited (via passing by on the highway) once. It would be quite dark on the eastern side of MI if the lights ever went out. I look forward to reading your review. This sounds like an interesting book.

The first line on my blog this week is from Toni Shiloh’s latest book ‘Returning Home’. I’ll share with you here a book that I just started reading last night.

  3. I’m gonna try to participate in this every Friday on your blog. This is so fun!
First sentences in my book are:
“Indigo “Indi” Smith was afraid. She’d been afraid ever since she and a few dozen other women had been kidnapped from Arizona by galactic slavers.” — Hierax: Star Guardians Book 4 by Ruby Lionsdrake

  4. Ooh, interesting first line.

I’m featuring Lu. by Beth Troy on my blog today, but here I shall share the book I’m currently reading.

“They rode in silence, the murmur of Alex’s expensive late-model white SUV lulling Astrid into drowsiness.”
-Colors of Christmas by Olivia Newport

  5. Great first line!!

I’m reading Heart’s Refuge by Cheryl Harper. The first two lines are:

“Will Barnes straightened the pad of paper so the bottom was perfectly aligned with the edge of his desk. Next, he hit Play on his voice mail.”

  6. I shared the first line of April McGowan’s Hold the Light today.

Here’s the first line of the book I just finished reading:

  7. Ha! That’s a great first line! The book I’m featuring on my blog is Perfectly Matched by Maggie Brendan. However, the book I will share here is Fire and Ice by Mary Connealy. “The bullet spit dirt up in Gage Coulter’s eyes, and he didn’t even flinch.”

  9. When I was a teenager, that was our standing joke about New Zealand …

I’m reading The Engagement Plot by Krista Phillips. Here’s the first line:

Hanna Knight clicked the Power button on the radio as she inched the Dodge Ram pickup down the snow-covered highway. Embarrass, Minnesota, was only a few miles farther.

Okay, so I had to include that second sentence because Embarrass as a place name? That’s even weirder than Iola (which really is a place name: Iola, Wisconsin, and Iola, Kansas).

  10. Sorry that I didn’t post this on Friday! I want to share the first line from the first chapter instead of from the prologue: (This is a REALLY fun book to read!)

A New Shade of Summer by Nicole Deese:

“I jiggled the locked doorknob again and wished, not for the first time, that it was legal to use tranquilizer darts on adolescent boys.”
